Monday 12 November 05:00; what does the ‘O’ stand for? OMG it’s early!

Paul and Carl planning before the start of The Hoskin Education Workshop.

The morning of the first Hoskin Financial Education Workshop held at Benton Hall Golf Club, Witham.

First a bit of background; the original idea behind the Hoskin workshops was to team up with a select few associated businesses in the Financial Services sector, with the sole aim of helping businesses with current issues they face, offering free to attend financial educational workshops (only cost is the cost of a breakfast).

The format includes a chance to network with like-minded business owners and to listen to ten minute educational talks from four experts in their field.

After many weeks of organising, inviting and reminding, the morning finally comes.  Just to clarify 05:00 was the time my alarm went off, the workshop itself started at 7am.

Our MC for the morning, Darren Harker from Essex Event Management did a great job setting the mood, introducing and providing the facilities for the presentations whilst Roger Webber from RWS Photography captured some great images.

Carl Bradford – Scottish Life

At our first workshop I was delighted to announce the following speakers:-

Mark Foster  – AM Safety Specialists Ltd – An Insight into Health & Safety.

Carl Bradford – Scottish Life – How to Maximise Your Pension Contributions.

Nigel Wilson – Nexus HR Consultancy Ltd – Discussing Human Resources issues.

And of course:-

Paul Hoskin – Hoskin Financial Planning – An Overview of Auto Enrolment.

The feedback from the attendees was positive, they enjoyed the networking aspect but in particular felt they learnt and gained something that morning that they could take away with them, all for the cost of a breakfast.

As we expected, there were teething problems; we will learn from experience and we value the feedback from the room.

Whilst this is a new venture, our initial research highlighted a demand for such an event.  After feedback and discussions with potential partners we certainly feel this is something that business owners want.

These events are not another networking club, a breakfast club or lead generation group.  There is no hard sale, pressure or 60 second introductions.  We envisage a good demand for the workshops and are already planning to run them across the South East of England.

I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet you soon at a future Hoskin Financial Education Workshops, however if you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks Paul.
